no deference
everyone i know has left new york to go back to their respective homes for the holidays. i am absolutely and utterly alone this year. this is what living the dream feels like.
things i will miss this christmas:
-family
-friends
-eating tons of (mostly chinese) food
-seeing all the chinese “family” that i literally am unable to communicate with.
-playing kings after all the children and old people leave, and watching the game dissolve before it’s over.
-post-christmas shopping.
-delicious mexican/vietnamese food.
-driving around late at night w/no agenda w/my friends, just cause we can.
-sleeping all day and not feeling guilty about it.
-not having to wake up before the sun is out.
this is what living the dream feels like.

this is my life. work. eat. work. shower. sleep. i need to insert more people in. i need to insert a person in. i entered this profession because i love how food brings people together. ironically enough, i have trouble bringing people together because of my profession.

I really need this to be true. Please, be true. 3 years ago • 128 notes“Your work is going to fill a large part of your life, and the only way to be truly satisfied is to do what you believe is great work. And the only way to do great work is to love what you do. If you haven’t found it yet, keep looking, and don’t settle. As with all matters of the heart, you’ll know when you find it.”— Steve Jobs

my only hope is that all of this will make for a good anecdote later on, when i’m successful and i can look back and laugh.
